  4. This application makes !Draw or sprite files of
  5. Spirograph patterns. They can be saved or
  6. dragged directly into !Draw or !Paint.
  7.  
  8. An icon is installed on the iconbar. Clicking on
  9. this opens the Options window. Here the radius
  10. of the fixed and moving circles can be set, and
  11. the distance of the pen from the centre of the
  12. moving circle.
  13.  
  14. The number of teeth on each circle can also be
  15. set, and the line colour selected from the standard 
  16. desktop colours. White allows the pen to be moved 
  17. without drawing to give partial patterns.

  19. There is a choice of three line widths - chosen so
  20. that drawing the same pattern in thick and then thin
  21. - in different colours - gives an interesting effect.
  22.  
  23. Clicking on OK will show the design, scaled to
  24. fit in a window. It can be saved by selecting
  25. Save from the menu. This curve  is drawn at the
  26. chosen size, so allowing several curves to be
  27. combined in Draw at their proper scale.

  29. The pattern can be seen as it is drawn in the
  30. preview  window. If you close this window, the
  31. drawing will be faster, and it can be re-opened
  32. by clicking on the icon-bar icon. It opens
  33. automatically when the pattern is completed.
  34.  
  35. Partial designs can be drawn by decreasing the
  36. 'Loops' value. When either points value is
  37. changed, the loops value is set to give a
  38. complete design  - you may then decrease it if
  39. desired.

  41. Different patterns can be combined in the same
  42. picture, and may use different colours. To start
  43. again, select Clear from the menu. The scaling
  44. works best if the largest design is drawn first!
  45.                               
  46. Stop on the menu allows you to stop a long pattern if
  47. you decide you don't like it.

  49. The pattern may be saved as a sprite or a drawfile, or
  50. the values used to generate it may be saved as a text 
  51. file, all in the usual manner.

  53. The program multi-tasks while the pattern is being 
  54. drawn.

  56. As always, the best way to see what happens is
  57. to do it!!
